Culture and Friendships International

Cultures and Friendship International (CFI) fosters relationships and friendships among members and broadens our understanding of the life and cultures of the various countries represented in our group.

Our programs are varied and include topics such as travel, history, art, music, dance, cuisine, crafts and more. Guest lecturers make presentations; we take day trips to cultural and historical sights; we celebrate national holidays with traditional food, music and dance; and we celebrate our common heritage as citizens or residents of the United States.

Our Missions

Since its foundation in 1891, Emmanuel has supported mission work at home and abroad.

The largest portion of our mission budget goes to the unified budget of the American Baptist Churches of New Jersey. These funds are used in local, state, national and international mission efforts. In addition to monetary contributions, we also provide opportunities for members and friends to become involved in handson mission work within our communities:

Family Promise

a nonprofit organization committed to helping low income families achieve lasting independence

Center for Food Action

a local food bank that supplies emergency food and services for citizens of Bergen and Passaic Counties

CROP Walk

a community wide event organized by local congregations and groups to raise funds to end hunger at home and around the world

Lauran Bethell

a missionary and human rights advocate that works on behalf of exploited, abused and trafficked individuals

Covenant House

a non-profit charity serving homeless youth with a network of shelters across the Americas

Camp Lebanon

a summer camp and conference center that provides Christian growth experiences for youth and adults in New Jersey

International Ministries and Home Mission Society

Habitat for Humanity
