ALL SEASONS CHAMBER PLAYERS WILL PERFORM ANNUAL CONCERT AT EMMANUEL BAPTIST CHURCH ON MARCH 17, 2019

All Seasons Chamber Players will perform at Emmanuel Baptist Church on Sunday, March 17, 2019 at 3:00 pm for an annual Community Concert, entitled “Indomitable Spirit: Beethoven and Beyond,” honoring the musical legacy of William F. Wilkins. Celebrated works by Brahms, Farrenc, Beethoven, and Parker will be performed. Admission to the concert is free and open to the public. During the intermission, a free will offering will be taken up for the Center for Food Action (CFA). William F. Wilkins, affectionately referred to as “Bill,” was a long time active member of Emmanuel’s choir and had a deep appreciation for music. It is a tribute to his memory that All Season’s Chamber Players will perform at Emmanuel and that the concert will raise much needed funds for CFA. CFA is 501 (c)(3) organization that provides emergency food and homelessness prevention services to northern New Jersey’s poorest and most vulnerable residents.

All Seasons Chambers Players, a leading chamber music ensemble in the New York-New Jersey Metropolitan area, is now in its 38th season and has performed over 774 concerts since its inception in 1981. The ensemble performs music from the baroque to contemporary periods in mixed ensembles using flute, violin, cello, harpsichord and piano. The All Seasons repertoire includes new and unusual works as well as those from the standard chamber music repertoire of duets, trios, quartets and four-hand piano works. All Seasons programs appeal to a wide range of audiences from experienced concert goers to casual music lovers of all ages.  The March 2019 concert is All Seasons Chambers Players 13th concert at Emmanuel.

Emmanuel, founded in 1891, is celebrating its 127th Anniversary Year. Emmanuel is located at 14 Hope Street, at the corner of Hope Street and East Ridgewood Avenue, Ridgewood, NJ.  The building is ADA accessible and all are invited to attend.

Event Cancelled: Emmanuel offers Pet Blessings on September 16th with Ridgewood Veterinary Hospital’s Adopt a Pet Day

August 31, 2018 Update- Due to the cancellation of the Adopt a Pet Day event at Ridgewood Veterinary Hospital on September 16th, Emmanuel Baptist Church will have to cancel the pet blessings on September 16th. Whenever the Adopt a Pet Day event is rescheduled by the Ridgewood Veterinary Hospital, Emmanuel will look forward to offering pet blessings in collaboration and partnership with the Ridgewood Veterinary Hospital for this worthy event. We apologize for any inconveniences and thank you for your cooperation.

Calling all animal lovers and pet owners! Emmanuel Baptist Church partnered with Ridgewood Veterinary Hospital’s annual Adopt a Pet Day to offer complimentary pet blessings on Sunday, September 16th 11:45am-4:00pm rain or shine at Emmanuel on 14 Hope Street, next to the Ridgewood Veterinary Hospital. Pet blessings will take place at the front door of the church facing East Ridgewood Avenue. Pastor Ken Gill will oversee the blessings and a complimentary certificate will be included with the pet blessing. Easter 2018 Services at Emmanuel

There will be a joint Maundy Thursday service between Emmanuel Baptist Church and Christ Episcopal Church held on March 29th at Christ Episcopal Church in Ridgewood (105 Cottage Place, Ridgewood, NJ). 6:30pm Light Supper. 7:30pm Service.  No RSVP required for the dinner.

 

The historic sanctuary of Emmanuel Baptist Church at 14 Hope Street in Ridgewood, NJ will be open to the public for personal prayer, reflection, and meditation on Good Friday, March 30th at 12:00 p.m.- 3:00 p.m.

 

The Easter Sunday Service will be held on Sunday, April 1st at 10:30 am at Emmanuel Baptist Church at 14 Hope Street in Ridgewood, NJ. There will be special guest musicians and an Easter message by Pastor Gill. Following service, join the community for a children’s Easter egg hunt.

Emmanuel holds a Community Peace and Justice Forum to discuss High School Student Action Against Gun Violence

Emmanuel Baptist Church will hold a Peace and Justice Forum entitled, “High School Student Action Against Gun Violence” on Tuesday, March 20th at 7:00-8:30pm in the Peace Lounge. Laurence Fine and Alana Benson, Ridgewood High School Student Leaders, will speak followed by a discussion.

The Forum is preceded by a non-fundraising Community Pasta Dinner, which starts at 6:00pm in Heritage Hall. Suggested donation is $4 per adult and $2 per child. Since there is limited space, it is suggested that you reserve your seat by calling the Church office at 201-444-7300.

Emmanuel Welcomes New Minister: Rev. Arturo Lewis

Emmanuel Baptist Church welcomes Rev. Arturo Lewis as new Associate Minister for Youth and Young Adult Programs. Rev. Lewis will begin his tenure on January 1, 2018.  He will be filling the pulpit on a monthly basis, represent the church in ecumenical activities, and develop a youth and young adult program at Emmanuel. Rev. Lewis joins Senior Minister, Rev. Dr. Kenneth Gill; Pastoral Associate, Rev. Judith Wheeler and Artistic and Music Director, John Giresi, along with support staff and a welcoming congregation.

 

Rev. Lewis, an ordained American Baptist Minister and long-time Ridgewood resident, is an inspirational speaker and life coach for schools and faith-based agencies through his non-profit organization, Art Lewis Ministries and Celebration Education. Rev. Lewis is a graduate of Princeton Theological Seminary and is currently an Adjunct Professor of Diversity Studies at Passaic County Community College and William Paterson University. Rev. Lewis is married to Debra Lewis, M.A., a high school counselor and the proud father of Demetrius Lewis, Ph.D., Assistant Professor, Goizueta Business School at Emory University. To view Rev. Emmanuel Celebrates Oktoberfest

Emmanuel Celebrates Oktoberfest

The Men’s Fellowship of Emmanuel Baptist Church will hold Oktoberfest on Saturday, October 21st at 5:30pm in Heritage Hall. Traditional German food and German music will be featured. Tickets are $15 for adults and $8 for children. Proceeds will be used by the men to fund mission activities which include supporting Good Shepherd Mission in Paterson and Bergen County Housing Center in Hackensack. Tickets can be ordered by calling the church office at 201-444-7300 on or before Wednesday, October 18th.

Emmanuel to hold a Hurricane Relief Concert on November 4th

Emmanuel Baptist Church will hold a Hurricane Relief Concert on Saturday, November 4th at 4:00 pm. The Tri-State Brass Society, Broadway performers Donna Vivino and Eddie Pendergraft, Folk guitarist and vocalist George Glock, Teaneck High School Madrigals, and students from Fair Lawn High School Musical Theatre Program will perform musical compilations ranging from classical to pop to gospel under the direction of Artistic and Music Director John Giresi of Emmanuel. The concert is free to the public and refreshments will be served. A free will offering will be taken and proceeds will go to benefit American Baptist Church International Ministries: One Great Hour of Sharing for Hurricane Relief.

Peace and Justice Forum- September 19th

Emmanuel Baptist Church will hold a Peace and Justice Forum entitled, “Welcoming Muslims in Ridgewood and Vicinity: Success Stories and Present Challenges” on Tuesday, September 19th at 7:00-8:30pm in the Peace Lounge following the non-fundraising Community Pasta Dinner. The role of faith communities, local government, schools, community organizations, and businesses will be discussed. Presentations will be made by Shaykh Moutaz Charaf, Imam (leader) of the El-Zahra Islamic Center in Midland Park and Mamoud Hamza, Leader, Muslim Society of Ridgewood. Program moderated by Rev. Dr. Kenneth Gill, Senior Minister, Emmanuel Baptist Church.
