EMMANUEL’S ANNUAL FAMILY AND FRIENDS BRUNCH

Hear Jennifer Selletti, Esq., head of attorney training for the Public Defender’s Office of the State of New Jersey and Lawrence Bell, imprisoned at 14 years of age, share their journey to the eventual freeing of Bell after he served 30 years and one day in prison.

Chris Hedges, a Pulitzer Prize winner and former Middle East bureau chief of the New York Times, had Bell as his student in the B.A. program in the New Jersey prison system run by Rutgers University. Bell had a 4.0 GPA and according to Hedges never had a chance.

The brunch and presentations will immediately follow the 10:30 a.m. worship service Sunday, September 12 at Emmanuel Church, 14 Hope Street, Ridgewood, NJ. The brunch and presentations, sponsored by the Women of Emmanuel, will take place in the Peace Lounge of Emmanuel, is free and open to the public.
